Beef Sales Frequently Asked Questions

  • What size options do you offer for purchasing beef?

We offer quarter, half, and whole beef options.

  • How much does your beef cost?

We charge $2.85 per pound based on the hanging weight of the animal. We'll provide you with an estimated total cost before you place your deposit.

  • What is the hanging weight?

The hanging weight is the weight of the carcass after the animal has been slaughtered and processed, but before it is cut into individual cuts.

  • What is included in a quarter, half, or whole beef?

The exact cuts you receive will depend on your customization choices, but you can generally expect a variety of steaks, roasts, ground beef, and other cuts.

  • How do I choose my cuts?

You'll receive detailed cutting instructions from Marks Custom Meats, our preferred processor. You can specify your preferences for steak thickness, roast size, and how you want your ground beef packaged.

  • Can I have my beef processed somewhere other than Marks Custom Meats?

While Marks Custom Meats is our preferred processor, we can deliver to other processors if you have a pre-booked appointment and take responsibility for the whole animal.

  • What is the deposit for a beef order?

A deposit is required to secure your order: $300 for a quarter, $500 for a half, or $700 for a whole.

  • Do you offer individual cuts of beef?

Yes, we offer individual retail cuts of our farm-raised beef in the freezer section at The Farmer's Dotterer.
